Bob McClenachan
President and CEO

Access Energy President and Founder Robert McClenachan has 20 years of experience in developing, acquiring and financing independent power generation projects.

McClenachan founded Access Energy in 2001 to provide value-added growth and development opportunities in the clean and renewable energy markets. After experiencing first-hand the success of clean energy projects McClenachan created Access Energy to focus solely on converting wood chip biomass to renewable energy. To date, Access Energy is one of the few renewable energy companies to specialize in biomass projects.

Throughout his career, McClenachan has been responsible for the profitable investment of more than $3 billion in projects ranging in size from 3 to 1,680 megawatts and equity valued from $2 million to $750 million.

Prior to founding Access Energy, McClenachan was instrumental in the development of three successful independent power companies and has held executive positions in the United States and abroad. In 1998, McClenachan served as president and chief executive officer of Energy Developments, Inc. in Houston, Texas. During his three years with the company, McClenachan developed eight projects with an aggregate value in excess of $75 million and increased the company’s worldwide revenue more than 30 percent.

From 1992 to 1998, McClenachan worked for a NRG Energy, a major international independent power producer and managed US and international responsibilities. McClenachan served as managing director for Asia-pacific operations and vice president of international business development where he propelled revenue and profit 40 percent within one year. During this period McClenachan was directly responsible for the largest and most profitable acquisition ever accomplished, the 1,680 megawatt Gladstone Power Station in Queensland Australia.

McClenachan began his career in the energy industry having founded Catamount Energy in Rutland, Vermont from 1983 to 1991 where he served in several capacities. McClenachan generated $15 million in new recurring revenues.

McClenachan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from Ramapo College of New Jersey, and a Masters of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
